Churros

Well, after loading up on some Inca Kola earlier this week, I had to buy some churros. You can get these on nearly every street corner in Peru. There was a vendor with his cart selling them right where I'd get off the school bus every day. For 10 Soles (about a penny at the time), I could get a bag of hot churros. Who would pass that up?

Churros are deep-fried pastry snacks. They are fried until they are just crunchy. There's more info on Wikipedia.

I picked up a package of churros when we were at Jungle Jim's last week. Yes, they were frozen. I think I'll make a batch from scratch after I use these up.

These were sprinkled with powdered sugar. The ones in Peru were often covered in sugar and cinnamon.
