We went to the Broad Ripple Farmer's Market this morning. We usually go to the Binford Farmer's Market since it is closer to our house. But, we read about the Broad Ripple market in a recent story in the Indianapolis Star. It's still early in the growing season, so the selection is a little limited.
There were maybe 30 or so vendors. There's a slightly different mix of vendors than at the Binford Market. There were more bread, plant and craft vendors.
We grabbed some tomatoes (still greenhouse, but good) and asparagus (the last week for fresh asparagus). We also bought a great loaf of artisan sourdough bread from The Breadsmith.
I've stored the tomatoes stem side down. According to this article in Cook's Illustrated, they'll last longer. We'll see.
Anita also bought some fresh-cut flowers for the living room.
On the way out, I took a picture of the rib trailer. I'll have to give those a try next time. We're off to Squealer's for lunch, so I didn't want to fill up here.
We liked the Broad Ripple market maybe a little better than the Binford one, but parking was a lot harder to find in Broad Ripple. We'll stick with Binford for our weekly trips and maybe go to Broad Ripple once a month.
