Deep-Fried Mozzarella Bites

Oh, yummy!

Serve with your favorite marinara sauce.

Makes: 24 appetizer-sized servings
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes

  • 1 lb fresh buffalo Mozzarella, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 t garlic salt
  • 1 t Italian seasoning
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup corn starch
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

1. Beat eggs with one tablespoon water.

2. In a shallow bowl or a pie plate, combine the bread crumbs, garlic salt and Italian seasoning.

3. In another bowl or pie plate, combine the flour and corn starch.

4. Heat oil in a Dutch oven or deep fryer to 350 F.

5. Working in batches, dip the cheese in the flour, then the eggs, and then the bread crumbs. Deep fry until golden, about one minute or so. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

6. Serve with your favorite marinara sauce, warmed.
